Recently, a client sent us an enclosure for a smart weighing kiosk used in supermarket fresh food sections and farmers' market checkouts. To address the operational demands of fingers coated in water or raw meat grease, alongside the aesthetic requirement for a flat visual appearance, our technical team leveraged its technological expertise to exclusively customize a 15.6-inch industrial-grade true-flat 5-wire resistive screen.
Project Background:
According to feedback from our smart commercial hardware client, AI weighing and POS kiosks are typically deployed in high-humidity, grease-heavy environments like supermarket meat sections and seafood stalls. Cashiers' hands inevitably get covered in oil and water, and they often need to tap the screen repeatedly while wearing latex gloves. If a traditional standard resistive screen is used, its plastic bezel creates a recessed gap where oil and water stains easily accumulate, leading to circuit corrosion or enclosure deformation. Conversely, if a conventional capacitive screen is used, large areas of surface water can trigger capacitive induction drift or touch IC crashes. To balance a modern flat visual experience with operational stability in harsh environments, the client chose to ship the prototype enclosure to our facility for a targeted touchscreen technology upgrade.

  1. True-Flat Black Ink Silk-Screening:
    To meet the client's high aesthetic standards for the entire machine, we applied advanced True-Flat technology to this 15.6-inch touchscreen. By performing black border ink silk-screening around the outermost hardened film layer, the front of the resistive screen presents an integrated, glossy visual appearance. This eliminates the traditional recessed bezel, delivering a flat aesthetic highly consistent with high-end capacitive screens and significantly upgrading the industrial design of the retail scale.
  2. True-Flat Seamless High-Protection Structure:
    On the physical protection level, the true-flat seamless design eliminates the dust gaps found around traditional resistive screens. When animal fats, water, or metal shavings from the fresh food section splash onto the 15.6-inch panel surface, the absence of a recessed groove allows liquids to slide naturally off the flat edges. This greatly simplifies wiping and cleaning, effectively resolving the engineering hazard of wastewater infiltrating and corroding the underlying ITO conductive network.
